Understanding the <blockquote> Tag in HTML

The <blockquote> tag is used to represent a section of text quoted from another source. It is typically displayed as an indented block of text by default.

Tag Syntax:

<blockquote cite="https://example.com">
Quoted text from another source.
</blockquote>

The optional cite attribute can specify the source URL of the quote.

Common Uses:

  • Quoting content from books, articles, or websites
  • Citing references in academic content
  • Structuring interviews or testimonials

Tip:

Use <q> for short, inline quotes and <blockquote> for long, block-level quotations.
